OUR WATER

What goes into our bodies affects us. Many people like you are growing more health conscious about the products they eat and drink, deciding to purchase certified organic foods which have no pesticides or harmful chemicals, as well as buying locally from retailers they can trust. But quite often the source of the water they drink gets overlooked.

That’s where Cielo comes in. We are committed to giving you the purest, freshest water available, from a local source you can trust! We start with City of Austin municipal water, which is already considered one of the best municipal waters available. But we’re not satisfied with "best municipal water", because there’s still stuff in it that you don’t want in your body! (You can tell our good city employees aren’t quite taking everything out, because when the lake turns over in the fall, their tap water tastes, let’s just say, "different".)

So Cielo uses state of the art water purification technologies make sure that all you’re getting is good old H₂O, pure and simple. After several pre-filters, we distill it, to make sure that everything that isn’t water is left behind. Of course, distillation leaves the water a little on the aggressive side, so we make a last pass through a coconut shell filter to take the edge off, balance the water out to a slightly alkaline pH of about 7.2, and ozonate it in the unlikely case any contaminants have snuck in after distillation.

Then comes the best part! Just before bottling, we add oxygen to our water using a proprietary process -- until Cielo has dissolved three to four times as much oxygen as in other bottled waters or tap water. Why do we do this? Well, we like good tasting water, and the oxygen creates a sweet, light taste that lingers in the mouth long after the water has been swallowed. We believe this helps Cielo drinkers stay healthily hydrated, because the better the water tastes, the more they drink! And many of our customers are convinced of additional health benefits to having extra oxygen in the water that they drink ... to which we say, "Water is good, oxygen is good -- and you can’t have too much of two good things!"

Now some people ask if we’ve created H₂O₂, hydrogen peroxide -- the answer is no, dissolving oxygen is different than chemically altering the water molecules. Others ask if the oxygen is compressed in and escapes when you open the cap -- once again, the answer is no, dissolved oxygen stays in even when the bottle is opened. However, over time it does slowly leave the water, so that in about ninety days you have just plain old water -- still good & pure, but no longer oxygenated. That’s why we put the date of oxygenation on every bottle, so you’ll know exactly how fresh it is. And if you ever find a bottle of Cielo that’s gone past ninety days, we’d appreciate you letting us know -- and we’ll reward you with a cold, freshly-oxygenated replacement bottle!
